NIK TOD –  BIO

Early life and education:

Nik Tod is a British modern, contemporary and abstract artist who living and working in London.

He works mainly with a mixed media art – pouring acrylic paints palette knife oil colors and digital canvas art. His passion for art began at a young age. As a child he was surrounded by art and music, along with the beauty of the Southwest landscape, inspiring his interest in fine art.

Nik’s career began from 6 years when started with interpretations of comics for Tom and Jerry and Mickey Mouse.

(1992-1997)   graduated art Ceramics – Chelsea College of Arts

(1998-2003)   studied at the University of Fine Arts The University of Kent

There mastered all artistic techniques. Truly Unique & unprecedented style of art. His style is impresses when the viewers stands in front of the artworks. Liquefied and fluidal acrylic paintings – they are created with great attention to detail, and this is a slow process that requires the placement of each color on the canvas. These paintings looks like a colorful rain.

From 2005, he began worldwide online sales and exhibitions of his art.

After many years of painting in oil colors, Nik moved forward, experimenting with abstracts in various mediums. This pushed him to expand his horizons and tap into new areas of painting he had not yet explored. There was an obvious freedom and personal expression with abstraction and it was then that he really began to flourish.  He was deeply interested in the effects of color, texture and the emotional response to strong composition and design. By removing the representational and creating something that told a story without an observational subject matter was very exciting.

Today, Nik’s work is a bold mix of styles, ranging from sleek and contemporary to weathered and organic. He brings a subtle and sophisticated feel to his paintings through a unique balance of colors, composition and texture. His work is exhibited in the most prestigious galleries and featured in private and public collections worldwide.

Statements & Reviews

I like the colourful and dynamic paintings of Nik. He is one of the few artists

who can paint not only movement and power but also emotion and enthusiasm.

John Seed, Art Critic
Nik’s  style of painting with its intensely colourful and vibrant subject matter reflects today’s life in its entirety from the hustle and bustle of both cities to the calmness of leisure time and every day living. The artist is able to create positive emotions through his paintings.
Mag. Peter Bogner, Director of the House of Artists Vienna
Nik is a remarkably powerful and energetic artist. His special kind of abstract art includes a driving element that is almost musical. This is because he allows the brush to dance – completely without pretense – on an open stage, so that it turns backwards somersaults and truly grooves; he actually succeeds in making his images vibrate, even stirring up the traditionalists. He continues unerringly with his work, which means translating cityscapes and portraits into a firework display of emotions and colour tones.

“I think rarely we see real art, but Nik shows the true face of beauty in our lives – it brings us hope – that art is alive !”

Leo Steinberg, Art Critic
Excited exclamations you’ll hear in the gallery visitors – they are stunned by the bright colors and the passionate emotions that they emit.
